HUGE RESERVOIR OF MEN TAPPED. STRENGTH OF 8,000,000 IN PROSPECT. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 18. The Secretary for War (Mr Stimson) drew the first number in a draft lottery, which is the third in the United States during the present emergency. The latest reservoir of men being tapped numbers nine million, including recent registrants between the ages of 20 and 21 and 35 and 44. Previous registrations involved men of from 21 to 35. It is estimated that from the number now registered, America will be able to build an army of eight million. General Hershey, Director of Selective Service, intimated that many thousands of men in the latest registration, especially those in the higher age groups, may be drafted for war work in shipyards and factories.
