Deputy Bernardo Ibanez, president of the Chilean Workers’ Association, announced that he had requested the Government immediately to sever relations with the Axis, following on the sinking of the Toltec.

EIGHTEEN MEMBERS OF CREW MISSING. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) MONTEVIDEO, March 17. The 5,800-ton Uruguayan merchantman Montevideo was torpedoed and sunk off Haiti. Of those on board, 18 are missing and 32 were saved.
