WELLINGTON WOOL NOT IN AS GOOD CONDITION AS USUAL. THIRD APPRAISEMENT YESTERDAY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The third Wellington wool appraisement of the 1941-42 season was completed yesterday, the following catalogues being appraised:— Bales. Levin & Co. and Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-op. Association 8,752 Dalgety & Co 6.200 Wright, Stephenson & Co. and Abraham & Williams 5,666 N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Dist. Co.. Ltd 5.182 Murray, Roberts & Co. and Johnston & Co 3,954 N.Z. Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd 3,668 33,442

The Wellington Woolbrokers’ Association reports that wools from the Wairarapa, Manawatu and Rangitikei districts again comprised the bulk of the offering. As in the earlier appraisements, the majority of the wools were not in as good condition as usual and were discoloured, this being very apparent in the bulk of the bellies and pieces which, in addition to stain, were very heavy with mud, resulting in the prices realised being lower than those paid last season. There was again a fairly large offering of lambs’ wool, and while some of the lines realised last year’s prices, the unpicked and stained lots went at lower levels. There will be a further appraisement in Wellington at a date yet to be decided, and this will be announced to growers later.
