MANPOWER COMMITTEE HEARS APPEALS SITTING IN MASTERTON. MANY CASES ADJOURNED. Further appeals in respect to service in the Territorials were dealt with yesterday by the Wairarapa Manpower Committee at a sitting in Mastertoll, as follow: — The following cases wore adjourned sine die: William V. Hensman, fireman; Keith R. Coley, surfaceman; Alfred E. Knutson, engine-driver; David J. Walker, surfaceman, all employed by the New Zealand Railways; Sydney P. Kingston, linesman; Alan Keith McLachlan, farm hand; Robert J. Berry, police constable, all appeals lodged by the Director of National Service; Arthur C. Heckler,•dairy-farmer (appeal lodged by James L. Heckler); Charles P. H. Hovard, farm manager (1. IVI. Baldwin); Alan J. Butler, main highway surfaceman (Public Works Department); Frank B. Pickering, master plumber (reservist); Russell Mills, departmental manager ((W.F.C.A., Ltd); Reginald J. Cowie, surveyor (A. 11. Bogle); Clarence W. Corlett, bush mill hand (I. Allen & Son, Ltd.); fan H. K. Hopper, minister of religion (Methodist Church); lan Taylor, stock buyer (Gear Meat Co., Ltd.); George R. Ward, dental mechanic (reservist and J. W. Dove).
Adjourned until June 30, 1942: Laurence J. Reed, hotel keeper (reservist); Alexander C. McKenzie, bank clerk (Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd.); George Simpson, blacksmith’s apprentice (W. Spring). Service postponed until April 30, 1942: Russell H. W. Howard, store manager (Yates Cash Stores. Ltd); Ivor W. B. Knell, departmental manager (Levin & Co., Ltd.) Service postponed until June 30. 1942: George F. Ireland, casing worker (Oppenheimer Casing Co., Ltd.) Service postponed until March 31. 1942: Leslie D. McLachlan, farm hand (Director of National Service); Roy H. Schorman, farm hand (Beatrice Schorman).
Service postponed until May 30, 1942: Reginald H. Emerson, lorry and tractor driver (E. C. Brenkley).
