RAID FROM CHAD
CAIRO MESSAGE GIVES DETAILS. JOURNEY OF 1,200 MILES MADE BY ATTACKERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) RUGBY, March 8. Details of the raid on Italian positions in the Fezzan Oasis, in Libya, by Free French forces from the Chad territory are gitjen in a Cairo message. After journeying 1,200 miles, the French captured three Italian posts before turning back. They were constantly dive-bombed on the return journey. Some Italians were killed, a few were taken prisoner and arms and supplies were destroyed.
