CARTERTON
LOST AND FOUND LOCAL RESIDENT'S LUCK. ("Times-Age” Special.) A local resident, when reutrning from work at Masterton yesterday afternoon, lost his wages, amounting to double figures, he surmised, either in a bus in which he had ridden, or at some spot en route, as the man got off each time the bus stopped to let other passengers out. Judge his dismay on reaching home to find his wages missing, and his relief when he hastily returned to Masterton to find that the money had been discovered' by the bus driver lying on the floor of the vehicle. Dance Tomorrow Night. The Y.M.C.A. and Citizens’ Committee will hold a dance in the State Theatre, Holloway Street, Carterton, tomorrow night. The committee has made suitable catering arrangements. The prices are Is 6d, and Is for servicemen in uniform. The first dance will start at 7.30 o’clock. Personal Items. Mrs H. Merwood, of Carterton, is spending a holiday with her granddaughter, Mrs G. Gray, Otane, Hawke’s Bay. Messrs G. S. Bruce, representing the Loyal Heart of Oak .Lodge of Odd Fellows, and C. J. DeLacey, the Unity Lodge, Featherston, will leave tonight to attend the annual District Odd Fellows’ Conference which will be held in Wellington on Saturday. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. The programme tonight is headed by the sensational picture, “The Devil Commands,” which is recommended by the Censor for adults, and in which the leading roles are taken by Boris Karloff and Richard Fiske. The associate feature is “Public Deb. No. 1,” an outstanding offering featuring George Murphy and Brenda Joyce.
