HOME GUARD SUCCESSFUL PARADE. ("Times-Age’' Special.) There was a large attendance at the Home Guard parade on Wednesday morning, when routine exercises were gone through. The parade was a mos. successful one. Decrease in Milk Supply. The supply of milk to the local cheese factory dropped considerably during the week as a result of a sudden southerly storm which occurred here a few days ago. An electrical storm of short duration was also experienced. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Waaka Taylor are on a visit to the Gisborne district. Mr Sid Rewi left yesterday for Gisborne to visit his mother. Mr and Mrs Reid are visiting relatives here. Mrs Guthrie, senr., and Mr and Mrs H. Guthrie have returned to Wellington, after having been the guests of Mr and Mrs Lee Bell. The many friends of the late Mr Geo. Hume and Mrs Hume, Masterton, will regret to learn that he has been an in- ■ mate of an Auckland hospital for the past six weeks, as a result of being run into by a motor car. Mr Hume, who was in one of the military camps, was on leave, and was hurrying across the street to catch a train for the camp when he was struck by the car, which inflicted severe injuries to one of his legs. He is, however, making satisfactory progress towards recovery. School Committee. At a special meeting of the local School Committee there were present: Messrs Mclntosh, Sutton, Duggan and Carter. Leave of absence was granted to Mr Rewai. After a lengthy discusion it was unanimously decided to hold the annual school picnic on Saturday, March 21.
