CROQUET MATTHEW’S CUP. (“Times-Age” Special.) In a match for the Matthew's Cup Mrs E .O’Neale beat Mrs Allen Donald. Members of the Haunui Club were very successful at the South Hawke's Bay tournament. The handicap singles was won by Mrs Symons ■with Mrs Rasmussen as runner-up. In the combined handicap doubles, Mrs Rasmussen and Mrs Doggett were first, the runners-up being Mrs Polson and Mrs Symons. Mrs Rasmussen won the trophy for the biggest break in the singles for B grade. Mrs Mymand's trophy was won by Mrs Symons. Out of 14 prizes 12 came to the Wairarapa, and of these 6 were won by the Haunui Club and 6 by the Masterton Club. Mrs Symons lost the Eva Card Cup by 3 points. Home Guard. There was a good attendance at the weekly parade of the Home Guard when instruction was given in the use of modern weapons, etc., followed by i a route march. Next Sunday the company will take part in Battalion manoeuvres. S.M. Court. At a sitting of the S.M. Court yesterday, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., Deryck Alfred Charles Walker was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for theft. M. E. Page was fined £4, with 10s costs, for having been found in possession of liquor in the vicinity of a dance hall. Herbert Hugh Williams was fined £3, with costs 10s, and Nelson Fairbrother £l, with costs 10s, on similar charges. Ellen Agnes Sim, Royal Hotel, was fined £5, with costs 10s, for having sold liquor after hours. Jeffrey Otto Andersen was fined £2 for having ridden a motor cycle at night without lights, and 10s, with costs 10s, for having failed to carry a warrant of fitness for his motor cycle. COSY THEATRE TOMORROW'S PROGRAMME. A powerful dramatic offering is “Marked Woman,” which will be shown tomorrow night, with Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart in the chief roles. The picture is recommended by the censor for adults.
