MASTERTON AIRMAN

KILLED IN FLYING ACCIDENT. Aircraftman Edward James Mannell, whose death occurred yesterday in a flying accident in Auckland, was a son of Mrs and the late Mr J. W. Mannoil, of Masterton. He was in his 21st year. Educated at St. Patrick's School and the Masterton Technical School, the late Aircraftman Mannell joined the Post and Telegraph Department in Masterton as a message boy and was a junior mechanician in the automatic exchange when he left last year to join the Royal New Zealand Air Force. He was keenly interested in radio and was a player of table tennis. The sympathy of many friends will be extended to the bereaved relatives. The funeral will take place in Masterton on Saturday, leaving St. Patrick’s Church following Requiem Mass at 9 a.m. for the Masterton cemetery.
