BOWLING CLUE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Games, as follows, have been played in the Eketahuna Bowling Club’s championships:—• Championship pairs, 4th round: Williams and Raleigh beat Frederickson and Hausman. Rogers and Green beat Butcher and Mcßride. Hornblow and Fayne beat Christie and Robinson, Smith and Houlbrooke beat Fraser and Hart. Championship singles: Payne beat Manser, Williams beat Mcßride, Hornblow beat T. Hooper, Raleigh beat Butcher, Hausman beat Houlbrooke, Richardson beat Smith, Fraser beat Holford, Tolley* beat Rogers. Championship rinks: Frederickson’s ( rink beat'Fraser’s rink 21/20, T. Hooper, Manser, W. Green, Hornblow (s) beat Mcßride, Hart, Ammunsen, Fraser (s) 24/22. Roger’s rink will meet Hornblow's next weekend. An Eketahuna rink, comprising Fraser, Mcßride. Williams, Rogers (s), by defeating a Pahiatua rink at Pahiatua on Saturday are now the holders of the Mason and Barr Cup. COF/IFORTS COMMITTEE SUCCESSFUL CARD PARTY. The borough soldiers’ comfort committee held a most successful flag 500 party on Saturday night. A two minutes’ silence was observed in memory of local soldiers who had lost their lives overseas while on active service—Lieutenant John Tredray, Gunner Rodney Graham and Sergeant Pilot Hylton George. The room was prettily decorated with all shades of hydrangeas and orange, dahlias. The attendance was larger than at any previous gathering. Mr L. C. Christie conducted the games. Miss M. Anderson (president) presented th e prizes to the following winners: —Miss M. Murray-Aynsley, Messrs Hart, D. Fraser and C. Parsons. Mrs Holford and Mr D. Farrow occupied the lucky scats. Supper was served by the commit-j tee. Memorial Service. A memorial service in connection with the death of Gunner Rodney Graham was held in the Rongomai Hall. The hall was beautifully decorated with flowers. The Rev. G. E. Williams conducted the service which was very impressive. The address was f taken from St. John XV, 13 verse. — i “Greater love hath no man than this,] that a man lay down his life for his j friends.” Two minutes silence was observed in memory of Lieutenant John Tredray, Gunner Rodney Graham, and Sergeant Pilot Hylton George, who were all well known in the district. Gunner Graham’s parents died during the epidemic in 1918. ' Harvest Festival. A harvest festival at the Anglican Church, Alfrcdton, was most success-! ful. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, fruit and vegetables. The sermon was preached by the Rev. G. E. Williams, there being a large congregation. The produce was subsequently sent to the Sedgley Home, Masterton. The decorations were carried out by the ladies of the church.
