FEATHERSTON
SOLDIERS’ DANCE HELD BY PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Junior Patriotic Committee was responsible on Saturday night for another successful soldiers’ dance when there was a good attendance. The music was supplied by Mrs Moran, and extras were played by soldiers. Mr Peter Habib made a capable M.C. Boy Scouts Display. To commemorate Scout Week, local Boy Scouts gave a display of Scout craft in Clifford Square on Saturday afternoon, the Girl Guides and Cubs also taking part, under the guidance and organisation of, ex-Scout Percy Henderson. Mr H. C. Hunter, chairman of the Scout Committee, complimented those taking part on their splendid display. He urged the Scouts in time of emergency to stick together and play their part, even though they may not have a Scoutmaster. Mr J. A. Halpin spoke of the usefulness of the Scout movement.
Service .Club. The South Featherston ladies look charge of the Service Club on Sunday and provided afternoon tea, tea and supper. The hostesses were Mesdames D. H. S. Riddiford and Arch. Clark. The South Featherston ladies have a band of very willing workers, who are members of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary, with Mrs C. Carter as secretary. Personal Items. Miss Card is visiting Levin where she is the guest of her niece, Mrs H. McKay. Mrs Harry Harland, Kahutara, who recently underwent an operation at the Kelvin Hospital, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Sergeant Major A. R. Robbins was home on leave during the weekend. COSY THEATRE WEDNESDAY’S PROGRAMME.. On Wednesday one of the sauciest and most amusing comedy sensations of the year, “She Knew All the Answers,” featuring Joan Bennett and Franchot Tone will be presented. (Recommended by the Censor for Adults).
