PETTY THEFTS
WIDESPREAD EPIDEMIC IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) 1 RUGBY, February 21. An epidemic of petty theft has been rife throughout Britain since the outbreak of the war, says the “Sunday Express.” Thieves pilfered commodities in short supply worth £2,000,000. Railway companies report that goods worth £1,000,000 were pilfered in a year. Since rationing, thousands of tons of meat, sugar, tea, butter and milk have been stolen from docks.
