CROQUET CLUB CUP COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following matches were played this week on the Featherston green:— Saunders Cup.—Doubles: Mrs O’Neal and Mrs A. Donald beat Mr Hyland and Mr R. Donald. Matthews Cup.—Singles: Mrs A. Donald beat Mrs Batchelor. B grade championship—Mrs White beat Mrs Batchelor. Home Guard. There was a good attendance at the weekly parade, when instruction was given in the use of trench mortars, the Bren gun and Vickers gun. A large
number of recruits have recently enrolled. Personal. At a meeting of the school committee, Mr R. Lett was appointed a member of the committee, in place of Mr J. C. Varnham, who recently resigned. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. “Indian Nation,” starring Richard Dix and Florence Rice (approved for Universal Exhibition), and “Man Made Monster,” featuring Lon Chaney Junr., and Lionel Atwill (recommended by the Censor for Adults) will be shown tonight.
