WRECKED BY EXPLOSIONS OFF AMERICAN EAST COAST. SALVAGE OF VESSEL ORDERED. LONDON, February 18. A 19,000-ton American tanker was abandoned off the American east coast last night after a series of explosions. All 40 members of her crew escaped in lifeboats and were picked up within an hour.
