OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

CARE OF STREET LAWNS (To the Editor.) Sir, —While our “gardeners of the street” are working at high pressure, and no doubt are unable to cope with the extra work of keeping our lawns in good trim, owing to scarcity of labour, what about assisting the Borough Council, who have put down these lawns for our benefit, by keeping them in order (temporarily; of course)? Evidently there are some publicspirited men who have risen to the occasion and are already doing this. What about you, householder, following their example? I am sure Mr Mayor and members of the council will appreciate this gesture on your part. Think it over, but don’t sleep on it, but act.— I am, etc.,

808 PHILGARLIC. Masterton, February 18.
