WAIRARAPA BOARD MEETING. TAKING OVER OF ANZAC HALL. The Wairarapa Hospital Board, at its meeting yesterday decided to take ever Anzac Hospital as from January 11 and to assume the department’s liabilities until March. 31 and to ask it for the use of equipment, without charge to the board. A committee was set up to meet the Featherston Borough Council to discuss the terms for taking over the hall from April 1. K The board expressed the view that there should be more elasticity in the procedure authorising the transfer of nursing staff under the emergency regulations ' relating to hospitals having been declared an essential industry. It was decided to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to a suggestion that the hospital board concerned and not the manpower officer should be the arbiter to deal with cases of this kind. The board agreed to release Dr. Courtis to allow him to take up military duties, provided the Manpower Officer gave his approval. Approval was given of a proposal to provide 20 beds at the Pahiatua Hospital in the event of an emergency, subject to the medical superintendent and the matron being able to make the necessary arrangements as regards space. . Advice was received to the effect that a petrol allowance would be made to enable board members to attend meetings, as long as there were no alternative means of transport.
