MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SITTING IN MASTERTON FAILURE TO ENROL. FIRST DIVISION RESERVIST FINED The fortnightly sitting of ton Magistrate’s Court was held this morning before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M. A charge of failing to enrol in Class A Reserve, First Division, was made against James Richard Miller. Senior Sergeant G. A. Doggett said defendant had been confused as to the actual position, having been under the impression that he had enrolled. A fine of £2 with costs 10s was imposed. For riding bicycles at night without lights, Helen Margaret Macdonald, Katherine Jean -Perry and Joan Leslie Manson were each fined 10s, with 10s costs. Senior Sergeant Doggett said the practice of riding bicycles at night without lights was becoming far too prevalent. The Magistrate said the fines would be increased in future. On the information of the Borough Traffic Inspector (Mi- J. McGregor), Thomas R. Rollo and Robert Dewar were charged with riding bicycles at night without lights. Each defendant was fined £l, with costs 10s. The radio inspector, Mr E. J. Burke, proceeded against Norman Carswell for not having a radio licence. Defendant was fined 255, with costs 10s.
