SCHOOL AFFAIRS MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the local School Committee, Mr S. Mclntosh presided. There were present: Messrs Sutton, Riwai, Duggan and Carter. A letter was received from the Education Department with reference to dental clinic matters. The secretary was instructed to write to the secretary of the Dental Clinic at Martinborough requesting certain particulars. The secretary reported that he had been paid the annual rent for the use of the courts by the local Tennis Club. A long discussion ensued as to whether a picnic should be held this year. It was decided that the matter be deferred and that the committee meet again on March 2 when finality in the matter would be reached. Personal Items. Miss Jessie Hobbs is on a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Hobbs. Mr and Mrs Fred Bird, who had been residents of this district for some years, have left to take up their residence in Martinborough. Mr Bird, who was employed by the Pirinoa estate will be greatly missed in social activities as he always gave valuable assistance in raising funds for patriotic purposes. He was a member of the local patriotic committee. Mr and Mrs C. Karauria, Dannevirke, have returned to their home. Mr and Mrs N. Murphy are visiting relatives in Wanganui. Mr and Mrs A. Hollings have returned to Masterton after staying with their daughter, Mrs Southey. Mr Frank Seward has returned from a short holiday. White Butterflies. White butterflies are not so numerous in this district as in past years. The recent warm weather has not in any way increased their numbers.
