ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS loyal heart of oak lodge. ’ (“Times-Age” Special.) The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal-Heart of Oak Lodge was held last evening, P.G. Sister K. Mitchell presiding over a fair attendance o* members. A member residing m the Eketahuna district forwarded a certificate stating that he was still on the sick list. Sick pay amounting to £6 was passed for payment. The balance-sheet as submitted by the secretary was adopted. It showed the credit balance in the Sick and Funeral Fund to be £7209 5s 6d, Management Fund, cr., £5l 13s 2d, Distress Fund, cr., £279 14s 9d: Surplus Fund, cr £827 18s sd; and Social Fund, cr., £22 16s 3d. The mortgages amounted to £1620 8s Bd. The Government stock and national savings investments totalled £5374 Os 3d, and the District Loan Fund was in credit £lO9l ss. P.G. Bro. G ,S. Bruce was elected to represent the Lodge at the Wellington District Conference, and also on the Wellington District Hospital Associatlolt was resolved to loan to the Y.M.C.A. the Lodge’s table tennis table and gejar. COLLISION WITH BUS BOY SERIOUSLY INJURED. George William Sorensen, aged 11 years, son of Mr and Mrs G. Sorensen. Kahutara Road, was seriously injured yesterday afternoon when a bicycle he was riding collided with a school bus. After having been attended to by Dr. Sharp, the lad was removed to the Grey town' Hospital. Personal Items. The funeral of the late Mrs Woodbury took place yesterday afternoon, the cortege being a long one. The Rev. W. F. Stent, vicar of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, conducted a service at the residence and also officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs F. Jackson, W. A. Hart, M. Trass, L. R. Trass, G. Maloney (Greytown) and E. McKenzie. Many beautiful wreaths covered the casket. Mr and Mrs H. G. Steffert are visiting Wellington, and are the guests of Mrs Stevenson, Miramar. Mrs N. F. Every and her three daughters, of Hokitika, are staying with Mi - and Mrs R. H. Every, Garrison Street. Miss Mary O'Reilly, of Lincoln Road, Carterton, who underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Masterton Public Hospital, is making good progress towards recovery. Home Guard. The next parade of B Company, Carterton, wil be held tonight at the State Theatre. Guardsmen ordered to join the Home Guard by the Man Power Committee and hot attending the minimum number of parades will be reported to Battalion Headquarters for further action. The following have been marched into the company:—Alban Keith Lenihan, Eric Wm. T. Sewell, Te Rate Tawhi. Promotions: C.S.M. K. R. Keall to be Platoon Commander, No. 1 Platoon; Sgt. G. S. Bruce to be C.S.M.; Guardsman W. H. Hall to be Sgt. cook. Red Cross Society. At a meeting of the Carterton subcentre of the Red Cross Society it was reported that assistance had been given to several families through the McCarthy Trust Fund and also to relatives of men who are now prisoners of war. Mrs Steffert was elected to fill Miss Smart’s place on the V.A. Committee. It was announced that classes in elementary first aid had commenced; also intermediate hygiene and sanitation and senior home nursing. A.R.P. lectures will be resumed on March 11. The following have passed their intermediate hygiene and sanitation examination which was held on December 19: —Mesdames Steffert and Goodin, Misses Ingley, R. Vaughan,' L. Moody and V. Tucker. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. A great picture, “Captain’s Courageous,” starring Spencer Tracy, Freddie Bartholomew and Mickey Rooney will be shown tonight.
