♦ BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following games have been played on the Carterton green during the week:— Champion singles: Larsen beat Hart, 19/14. Progressive pairs: Steven and Sorensen (s) beat Kilmister and Barber (s), 21/18. Colts singles: Pankhurst beat Colson, 25/17; Billington beat Goulden, 24/19. DeLacey Buttons: Irwin and Harrington (s) beat Colson and Newbould (s), 18/15. SCHOOL ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Home and School Association, there were present: Mesdames N. M. Hurndell (in the chair), H. Goodin, O’Keefe, K. Hodder, G. H. Steffert, C. N. Rofe, A. Patterson, W. J. Denbee, F. L. Barr (secretary), and Mr W. Martin. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. M. Nicholls and G. Stark. Mr W. Martin reported that negotiations were still proceeding with the Education Board in regard to the proposed basketball court. Owing to the pressure of war work it was decided that the association should not undertake any activities in the meantime, and that the committee should not meet again until the annual meeting in May. Y.M.C.A. Activities. With assistance of the ladies and men of the Carterton Citizens’ Comrrfittee, the Y.M.C.A. is carrying out splendid work for the soldiers who appreciate very much what is being done on their behalf. The Y.M.C.A. will open another branch of its activities at Grey town on Sunday evening. Personal Items. Mr Minns, who many years ago resided in Carterton, and who has been visiting the town, left yesterday for Auckland. Mr Minns, who had been away from Carterton about 23 years, was greatly impressed with the progress which Carterton had made. Obituary. Mrs M. C. Woodbury, an old Carterton resident, who had been in ill-health for some time, died in Wellington this morning. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved husband and family. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. A double feature programme will be shown tonight, “Meet Boston Blackie,” with Chester Morris and ffiochelle Hudson in the leading roles, and “Lucky Cisco Kid,” featuring Caesar Romero. (Both Recommended by the Censor for Adults).
