» SERVICE OF PRAYER LARGE ATTENDANCE YESTERDAY. /"Times-Age” Special.) The combined weekly Intercession service was held in St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church yesterday, there being a large attendance, including a number of country residents. The Rev I. K. Hopper officiated. Returned Soldiers’ Association. Owing to the petrol restrictions and the weather conditions interfering with the seasonal work of so many of its members, the re-union of the Eketahuna Returned Soldiers’ Association, which is usually hold during December each year, was not held last year. In order, however, that members may have an opportunity of meeting, it has been decided to hold the annual meeting and re-union about the middle of April this year. Fat Lambs. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions large drafts of fat lambs have been sent by special trains from this district to the freezing works. Parcels for Soldiers. The Borough Ladies’ Soldiers’ Comforts Committee packed 40 parcels for dispatch overseas to local soldiers. The contents of each parcel cost 10s. The members are now at work making each soldier- a hussif. Tire secretary has received many letters of appreciation from soldiers for parcels received. Personal Items. Mr Samuels, Inspector of the Bank of New Zealand, is on a visit to Eketahuna. Miss Janet Perry, Rongomai, has commenced duties in the clerical department at the local railway station.
