BRANCH FORMED AT BIDEFCRD. WARDENS APPOINTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A public meeting was held at the Bideford Hall last evening, all the settlers of the district being .present. Mi’ Hearn Smith was in the chair. A branch of the Masterton E.P.S. was formed, and a roll of all the settlers in the district compiled. Three wardens were appointed, Mrs T. H. Falloon being chief warden and Mrs J. Jensen and Miss J. Laing vicewardens.
Many of those present expressed themselves strongly concerning the treatment of the Home Guard by the Government for its lack of supply of the essential equipment to safeguard the Home Guardsmen. The opinions was expressed that as these Home Guardsmen were prepared to .sacrifice everything to save their country, in fairness the Government should equip the Home Guard with uniforms and other' essentials of war at the earliest opportunity. Mesdames I. Bunny, C. Percy and E. Wrigley undertook to become ambulance drivers.
