INCREASED DESPITE HITLER. ATLANTIC ROUTE MAINTAINED. OTTAWA, January 29. The Empire is increasing its trade with Canada despite Hitler. Imports from the United Kingdom of 136.282,000 dollars in 1941 against 136,510,000 dollars in 1940 illustrate how well the Atlantic route is being maintained. Imports from British East Africa were 2,115,000 dollars against 1.739.000 dollars; British South Africa 4,182.000 dollars against 3,443,000 dollars; British West Africa 2,881,000 dollars against 1,087,000 dollars; British India and Burma 18,148,000 dollars against 16,612,000 dollars; Ceylon 6,064,000 dollars against 4,641,000 dollars; Newfoundland 4,273,000 dollars against 3,075:000 dollars; Australia 19,235.000 dollars against 16,571,000 dollars; New Zealand 13,552,000 dollars against 5.738.000 dollars; Argentine 4,764.000 dollars against 6,542,000 dollars; Brazil 19,444,000’dollars against 6,243.000 dollards. A sixty million dollar contract for Curtiss navy dive bombers of the latest type has been placed in Canada. The order covers over one thousand aircraft or over twelve months’ sustained peak production. The estimated maximum output is eighty a month.
