LULL IN PHILIPPINES

Japanese Awaiting Reinforcements ENEMY FIGHTERS SHOT DOWN IN JAVA SEA LONDON, February 12. In the Batan Peninsula the lull in the fighting continues. The enemy is evidently reorganising and awaiting reinforcements before resuming the attack. The island of Masbate, in the centre of the Philippines, has been occupied by Japanese forces.
