CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, February 8. The Irish Minister to Washington, Mr R. Brennan, in a ninety minutes conference with Mr Sumner Welles, Un-der-Secretary of State, delivered a message from Mr de Valera regarding the relations of Eire with America. An official statement has not been made, but informed circles say Mr Brennan was highly pleased after the talk, which cleared up Eire-American relations. The United Press learns that Mr Welles asserted that the American Expeditionary Force in Ulster does not imply that America approves of theIrish position and further that the United States does not intend, under the present circumstances, to seize bases in Eire.
