EKETAHUNA
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Women’s Institute, Mrs Fraser welcomed members. An apology for absence was received from Mrs RDuncan. A letter of thanks was received from Mrs Hooper in connection with the sympathy extended to her in her illness. Wool was handed out to be knitted into pullovers for men of the Merchant Navy. Nominations were received for the new committee for the ensuing year. Mrs Fraser was elected president unopposed. A demonstration of spinning was given by Mrs J. McAnulty. She had on exhibition some excellent specimens of knitted articles which she had made from spun wool. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competitions resulted as follows: —Best bloom: Mrs Oliver 1, Mrs Oliver 2, Miss Hooper 3. Soldiers’ hussifs: Mrs Fraser 1, Mrs Baucke 2, Miss Mitchell 3. The hostesses were Mesdames Cross, Christie and Herbert. Personal Items. The many friends of Mr F. Cowlain, High Street, will regret to hear he is confined to his bed with illness. Mr J. A. Smith, “Forest Flat,” is visiting Wellington.
