INCREASED INTENSITY
SHELLFIRE AT SINGAPORE. LITTLE DAMAGE DONE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) SINGAPORE, February 5. Singapore is rapidly becoming accustomed to the sound of shellfire which has increased in intensity during the last twenty-four hours, says the Australian official war correspondent. The Japanese have sufficient artillery to keep up a fairly continuous fire and our gunners have been busy in counter battery work. So far little damage has been done to anything on the island. The Japanese are also pouncing away with larger type mortars.
