WEDDING

LEIGHTON-STEVENSON. On Wednesday, January 21, the wedding of Mr Jesse Leighton and Adjutant Phyllis Stevenson was celebrated in the Salvation Army Hall, Lincoln Road, Masterton. The ceremony was performed by Major O. E. Ransom. The bride was attired in regulation Salvation Army uniform, with an old gold satin sash and carried a bouquet. Miss Irene Colins, of Ashburton, attended the bride and also wore Salvation Army uniform with a red sash, and carrying a bouquet. Mr Geo. Leighton acted in the capacity of best man. The hall was tastefully decorated by Mrs Major’ Dick and Mrs Athol Fairbrother. Miss Tongs, of Palmerston North, officiated at the piano. During the signing of the register Mrs Major Dick and Mrs Hoare sang Jude’s Consecration Hymn. The wedding breakfast was held in the Young People’s Hall. Congratulatory speeches were made and Mr George Leighton read a number of telegrams expressing the good wishes of friends from all parts of the Dominion.
