OUTPUT OF PLANES
ARMY NEEDS IN UNITED STATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, at Noon.) WASHINGTON. January 23. The Army has urgently requested Congress to appropriate 12.526 million dollars for the construction of 33,000 planes. Lieutenant-General Arnold explained to the House of Representatives Committee that the request was a continuation of the present rate of production, and was made before President Roosevelt asked Congress for 60,000 planes in 1942, and 125,000 in 1943.
