SALVATION ARMY

READING AND RECREATION ROOMS FOR SOLDIERS. OPENED AT THE WEEKEND. The Red Shield recreation and reading rooms for soldiers on leave were opened in the local Salvation Army Hall at the weekend and were well patronised. The servicemen who availed themselves of the excellent facilities provided, spent a happy time on Sunday evening. Supper was served to the men and this will be a weekly feature. Major and Mrs Ransom and their enthusiastic helpers are anxious that these rooms shall become “a home away from home” for the soldiers. Thanks are extended to those who have donated books, magazines, refreshments, furnishings, etc. There are indications that the Red Shield rooms will become a very popular centre with soldiers on leave.
