Senator T. Connally, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, stated that the United States Navy had increased its activity, as shown by the disclosure today of patrol operations by the Battle Fleet in the Pacific, in which an unspecified number of enemy submarines were sunk. He indicated that the United States intends to fight an offensive battle rather than a delaying action in the Pacific.
