OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

A CRICKETING DECISION. (To the Editor.) Sir,—ln connection with an appeal made at a cricket match in Masterton on Saturday against the bad light, I would point out that any player has a right to appeal against the light, and that the final decision in the matter rests with the umpires. I consider that the umpires’ decision on Saturday was the right one. The umpires are to be commended for coming forward each week to carry out their duties and I hope that as the result of unjustified] criticism the Cricket Association will not find itself at any time without umpires.—l am, etc., OLD CRICKETER. Masterton, January 19. :
