Argentina tentatively aligned herself with the rest of the hemisphere as the Foreign Ministers’ conference proposed the adoption of a joint resolution breaking off relations with the Axis. The Associated Press reports that a proposal to establish an inter-American military staff, which would meet in Washington to plan the hemisphere’s defence, may be presented to the- conference.

Columbia yesterday presented a resolution in the names of herself, Mexico and Venezuela, proposing that all the 21 American Republics who have not yet broken with the Axis should sever diplomatic relations.
