FATAL CRASH

AMERICAN PASSENGER PLANE. CAROLE LOMBARD AMONG VICTIMS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, January 17. A plane carrying the film star Carole Lombard crashed and was burned near Las Vegas, Nevada. A Los Angeles message states that the T.W.A. air line announced that the transport carried 22 passengers, including Carole Lombard and her mother. The star’s husband, Clark Gable, immediately chartered a plane and left for the scene of the crash. She was returning from a personal appearance tour on behalf of the defence bond sale. A later message states that all passengers are dead, 15 being army ferry pilots.
