EKETAHUNA
SOLDIERS OVERSEAS MENTIONED IN DESPATCHES. ("Times-Age” Special.) The names of at least two of the old boys of the Eketahuna District High School are included in the list of those mentioned in despatches. These are Captain T. G. Bedding, who has already been awarded the Greek Military Cross, Class C. and Gunner Cliff Burling, N.Z.A., of Newman. These recognitions are for outstanding service during the operations in Greece and Crete. Personal. Some months ago, when H.M.S. Achilles returned to New Zealand, after the Battle of the River Plate, Eketahuna extended a civic welcome to two of her complement, Graeme Dawson and Munro Ramsay, who had served during the battle. Since the loss of H.M.S. Neptune, news has been received that Ist Class Stoker Graeme Dawson is missing. Card Evening. The Red Cross Flag five hundred tourney was held in the Anglican Sunday School room. There was a good attendance. A savoury supper was served by the ladies’ committee. The room was artistically decorated with hydrangeas and roses. The prize-winners were: Mesdames Simmers and Liardet and Messrs Southey and W. Anderson. Pi'izes were donated by Mesdames Marenzi, Simmers and Curry.
