PATRIOTIC EFFORT A GRATIFYING RESULT. (“Times-Age” Special.) A band of willing workers held a cake stall in the old Trading Company's premises yesterday in order to raise funds to help to pay for twine for the camouflage nets, spinning wheels, etc. It is the intention of the committee to make this a weekly event. The result achieved vzas very gratifying, but it is hoped when the stall becomes better known, that business will be very brisk. Personal Items. Mrs E. M. Miss Card, is on a brief visit to Wellington. x Mrs C. Rea, Upper Hutt, was a visitor to Featherston yesterday. Miss Alice Johnson left today on her annual leave which will be spent in Palmerston North. Bowling. A game for the championship fours was played on the green recently and resulted as follows: —Messrs J. W. Card (sub.), G. O'Neale, L. James and H. Rolls defeated Messrs L. G. Benton, W. H. Rowles, J. Thompson and H. R. Bloxam. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT'S PROGRAMME. “Arizona,” the greatest outdoor picture yet filmed will be the main attraction tonight. Jean Arthur and William Holden have the leading roles. (Approved for Universal Exhibition).
