GREYTOWN
CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE ENTERTAINMENT OF SOLDIERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr A. IV. Horton presided over a meeting of the Greytown Citizen’s Committee held in the Council Chamber last evening. Arrangements were made for the entertainment of soldiers. The Greytown Fire Brigade offered the use of its hall and it was decided that this be fitted up as a writing room. Mrs Balfour offered the use of a table tennis table and bats. It was stated that easy chairs and small tables would make the room quite comfortable and citizens are to be asked to donate the same. Musical instruments would be appreciated and a piano is also required. The following offered their services: Hospital nurses, Mrs Jury’s team, Miss Kedell’s team, Mrs Balfour’s team, Mrs Beu’s team, Mrs Brown’s team and Miss O’Kane’s team, for one night each week. A dance is to be arranged each week. It was decided that the usual quota of parcels be packed on Monday. On the motion of Mrs Johnson a letter of sympathy is to 'be forwarded to Mrs Flood, Senr. Mrs T. Tully offered the use of her house and grounds for soldiers and she was accorded a vote of thanks. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs J. Rees. McMaster Street, are visiting Wellington. Mrs C. Mexted, who has been the guest of Mi- and Mrs H. G. Carter, McMaster St., has returned to Tawa Flat. Miss D. Richards, McMaster Street, is visiting Christchurch. TOWN HALL TONIGHT'S PROGRAMME. The most refreshing comedy ever seen will be screen tonight, “Pride and Prejudice” with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson in the leading roles. (Recommended by the Censor for adults).
