Fighting All Along American Line AGGRESSIVE INFILTRATION ATTEMPTED LONDON, January 16. The latest news from the Philippine area is given in a War Department communique issued, in Washington, which states that Japanese shock troops, with dive bombers in support, attacked General MacArthur’s forces. Fighting of varying intensity continues all along the front line. Specially trained Japanese troops attempted an aggressive infiltration. The American front line troops and artillery troops are under incessant attack by Japanese fighters and dive-bombers. Many reports have reached General MacArthur’s headquarters from occupied territory stating that the Japanese are looting and devastating the entire countryside.
