ST PATRICK’S SCHOOL
ANNUAL CONCERT GIVEN BY PUPILS LAST NIGHT. AN ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. There was a large attendance of parents and friends at the annual concert presented by the pupils of St. Patrick’s . School in St. Patrick’s Hall last night. ' The programme was a varied and bright one and the excellent manner in which each item was executed reflected the greatest credit on the pupils and showed very careful training. : The Items were greeted with warm applause by the audience but owing to the lengthy programme no encores were allowed. i
The programme was as follow:— Opening choruses, “Come Birdie Come,” “What are the Wild Waves Saying,” seniox’ singing class; action, song, “Christmas Crackers,” infant girls; pianoforte solo, Valse Brillante, Margaret Greenlees; drill, “Divertimento,” Std. 1 and 2 boys; musical monologue, “His First Long Trousers,” senior boys; action song, “A Visit to Fairyland,” Std. 1 and 2 girls; recitation, “The Woodpecker’s Ballad,” Mary Robinson; dialogue, “A Visit to the Seaside;” “Flower Dance,” Std. 3 and 4 girls; action, song, “The Little Duchies;” canon and round, “Slimmer is a Coming In,” “Friax’ John” and “Good Night,” singing class; verse speaking, “The Fighting Temeraxre ” “The River,” and “Overheard on a Salt Marsh;” physical exercises, Std 3 and 4; musical monologue, “The Lesson, of the Water Bill,” senior girls; action song, “The Bakers,” infant boys; sword dance, John Ryan; recitations. “The Old Dress” and “The Portrait, Zita Robinson; action song, Kinkie Kids Parade,” Std 1 axid 2; dance duo, “Tap Dance,” Jean Brady and Eileen Greenlees; play, “To be Let or Sold;” grand finale, “God Defend New Zealand,” the school.
