FEATHERSTON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. ("Times-Aee” Special.) Mrs Elbe presided at the monthly meeting of the Featherston Women’s Institute. Letters were read from three soldiers who are serving overseas acknowledging the receipt of parcels from the Institute. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr and Mrs Palmer in connection with the death in action of their son. The thought for the day was given by Mrs Wilson. Miss Stansell, who is shortly leaving the district, handed in her resignation, which was received with regret. A presentation was made to Miss Stansell by Mrs Elbe. Mrs Pope presented Mrs Elbe and Mrs McKenna with posies. The competitions resulted as follows: Best toy, Mrs Henderson 1, Mrs D. Wilson 2; best bloom, Mrs Duffy 1, Mrs Elbe 2. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies present. Personal. Mrs S. Best, Wanganui, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Clark. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. A rollicking romance of happy-go-lucky kids will be shown tonight, when Joel McCrea, Ellen Drew and Billy Gilbert will be seen in the sunniest and most cheerful entertainment presented by the management this year, “Reaching for the Sun,” which is approved for universal exhibition.
