CRASH INTO HILL
FOUR AIRMEN KILLED NEAR CHRISTCHURCH . DURING TRAINING FLIGHT FROM WIGRAM. BEARINGS LOST IN HEAVY RAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Four members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force were killed early yesterday afternoon when an aircraft returning from a training flight to the Wigram Station crashed into the hillside at Motukarara, which is a little south of Christchurch. It is believed that the pilot, who was flying in heavy rain and low clouds,, lost his bearings. The crew and their next-of-kin are as follows:— Pilot Officer Allan Leslie Marshall (Mrs Edna Sophie Marshall, mother, 37 Marama Terrace, Birkenhead, Auckland). L.A.C. William lan Lindsay (Mrs Jessie Lindsay, mother, 112 Hutt Road, Petone, Wellington). L.A.C. Ronald Stephen Brooker (Mr ■S. C. Brooker, father, 6 Tererika Street, Rotorua). L.A.C. Brian Patrick Fitzgerald (Mrs Nora Eileen Fitzgerald, mother, 121 Elizabeth Street, Riccarton, Christchurch).
