MASTERTON BRANCH FINANCIAL POSITION UNSATISFACTORY. HOUSE-TO-HOUSE CANVASS IN FEBRUARY.The fact that the financial 'position was not satisfactory at present and the necessity for a house-to-house canvass for funds were stressed at yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society. It was decided to hold the canvass in February, 1942. An appeal was also made for all members who had not done so to pay their subscriptions before the end of the year. All mothers who could help the branch by joining as regular subscribers were urged to do so.
The meeting was presided over by Mrs J. Caselberg and there were also present: Mesdames J. D. O’Connor, S. L. P. Free, T. Jordan, C. T. Richardson, T. W. Wardell, D. Donald, C. A. Carmine, R. C. Drummond, E. J. Heller, J. V. Gordon, A. F. Stewart, H. R. Keltic, E G. Norman, T. F. Watson, A. H. Falloon and H. H. Daniell. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames P. Nathan, J. C. Broad, E. G. Eton, G. Cowie, I. Bunny, and N. Irwin. , ,
The Nursing Advisor to the Plunket Council, MisS Fitzgibbon, stated that as from January 5, 1942, the Masterton branch's nurses would be relieved by Miss Campbell. Accounts for £lO7 11s 3d were passed. Mrs Caselberg stated that she had recently visited the Karitane Home in Sydney. The home was being extended to enable more mothers and babies to be taken in. The demand for Karitane nurses was increasing. Mrs C. A. Cameron was thanked for a donation. It was resolved to hold the next meeting on the first Wednesday in February in place of the second Wednesday in that month. The nurse’s report was as follows: Masterton, visits to office, 456 adults, 432 babies, 57 pre-school children, 8 casuals; visits to homes, 30 new cases, old cases 90; pre-school children seen in homes, 14; new cases for the month, 14 Tinui sub-branch, Blairlogie, Tinui, Annadale, Mangapakeha, 1 visit each; new cases, 1; visits to homes, 12. Mauriceville sub-branch, Kopuaranga, Mauriceville East and West, 2 visits each- Mangamahoe, Ihurua Valley, 1 visit’each. New cases, 2; visits to new cases, 2; old cases 26. Pre-natal seer lion, new cases, 3; return visits, 10, visits to homes, 6; total, 19.
