GREYTOWN

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown School Committee was held last evening. There were present Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Dennes, R. O’Neale, J. C. Morison, E. Galyer, W. Grigg, W. Wiggins, Mrs Knell and the headmaster, Mr S. C. Shedden. The roll numbers were reported to be: Secondary 29, primary 304. The attendances had been excellent during the past month, but last week it was apparent that 1 several children were helping in the hay fields. ~ The Education Board notified that the dividing fence at the school residence was to be repaired by Messrs H. Trotman & Sons.

The dental nurses reported that Nurse Berney had left for Carterton on December 1, and that Nurse Hughes would continue on duty till the end of the school year. The -new entrants had been 11. The attendances at the clinic numbered 252 and the operations performed were 782. The chairman expressed pleasure at the results of the calf and lamb competitions. It was stated that parents’ day would be held on Thursday. BOWLING Messrs Kilgour and Thompson, of the Park Club, were successful in winning the Grady Medals on Monday evening from Messrs McLeod and Higgison. The following will represent Greytown in the games at Featherston on Saturday: —Booth Cup, Connolly, Burden, Kenning, Higgison; Brunton, Burns, Kilgour,’ McLeod; Shield, B. Kiernan, Maddison, Bunny, Kiernan. Garden Party. The generous action of Mr and Mrs A. Johnson in making their garden available on Saturday afternoon for the party in aid of the Buchanan Home Christmas Cheer Fund is much appreciated. In previous years this function has been held at the hospital. TOWN HALL TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME. . A double feature programme will be screened tomorrow. “The Fargo Kid” features Tim Holt in a real western action film, while “Melody For Three,” stars Jean Hersholt and Fay Wray in a musical thriller. (Both approved for Universal Exhibition).
