SCHOOL COMMITTEE FINAL MEETING FOR YEAR. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final meeting for the year of the local School Committee was held in the school when there were present: Messrs Mclntosh, Sutton, Carter, Duggan, and Riwai. Accounts amounting to £2l were passed for payment. It was decided to give the children a small parcel of cakes, etc, on break-ing-up day. It was resolved that the chairman and secretary interivew the secretary of the Tennis Club with reference to the club’s activities this season. The secretary reported that he had had certain works carried out. This was approved by the committee. The chairman expended to the members his best wishes for Christmas and New Year. Shearing. Farmers are busy shearing. Work on some farms is being held up owing to a scarcity of shearers. Personal Items. Mrs Atkinson, Wellington, is staying with her son, Mr J. H. Atkinson. Mr and Mrs Slater are visiting relatives in this district. Privates Charteris, Dixon, O’Brien, Leitch and Noel Hume ate to be entertained at a social, gathering by the local Bachelors’ and Spinsters’ dance committee.
