SOUTH FEATHERSTON
CHILDREN’S CONTESTS LAMB AND CALF AWARDS. ■ (“Times-Age” Special.) The South Featherston, Kahutara and Featherston schools held their calf and lamb competitions at the South Featherston school. Mr Johnson (Greytown) judged the calves, and Mr Robbins (Western Lake) the lambs. The results were: Calves, champion. Mavis Ness; care and handling, Joan Siemonek 1. Lola Blandford 2, Tom Ness 3; Raymond Snell 4; dairy type, Mavis Ness 1, Maureen Guthrie 2, Tom Ness 3, Raymond Snell 4; Ayrshire class, Maureen Guthrie 1, Don Sadler 2, Ray Burt 3, Barbara Sutherland 4; Jersey class, Mavis Ness 1, Tom Ness 2, Raymond Snell 3, Joan Siemonek 4. Lambs, shortwool. Mervyn Gain 1, Ray Burt 2, Marie Burt 3, Joy Gain 4; longwool, Gordon Leighton 1, C. Kelly 2, Ann Willis 3. The cup winners were: Brough Cup, Kahutara; Ness Cup; Mavis Ness; Donald Cup, Mavis Ness; Matthew’s Cup, Joan Siemonek. Miss Card presented the trophies and congratulated the children. Kahutara, with 16 points, South Featherston scoring 12.
