TRANSPORT EXAMINATION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following candidates passed in the transport examination held recently—Mrs M. Williams, Mrs Skipage, Misses Foss, E. Cole, F. Donald and J. Donald, Featherston; Mrs Rendle, Mrs Welsh, Misses Collins, Stansell, C. Bargh, and N. Corlet, Kahutara. Messrs P. H. Wilton, J. C. Bidwill, McDonald (Wairarapa College), and Greathead trained the candidates in theory; and in practical work.
Lady Galway Fund. Two parcels of clothing were sent today to the Lady Galway Fund. Miss Card expresses her thanks on behalf of the association to all those w’ho had given to this fund, and states that the depot will be closed until February. Tennis Tournament. The Kahutara Tennis Club opened the season with a tournament, the winners being Miss M. Juno and J. Sutton. Personal Items. The many friends of Mrs Juno, Pihautea, who has been an inmate of the Greytown Hospital for the last three months, will be pleased to learn that she is recovering from her illness. Miss P. Hood, Masterton, was a weekend visitor to her home in Kahutara. COSY THEATRE TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME. “The Great American Broadcast” with Alice Faye, Jack Oakie, John Payne and a great cast, will be shown on Wednesday. This grand story will be screened at 3.15 p.m., and as usual at night. Picture lovers must see, this snappy show. (Approved for Universal Exhibition). ing story of a girl’s journey to the “Celestial City.” Appropriate songs and solos were cleverly worked into the story. The soloists and duettists were Mrs W. Stark, Mrs E. Fairbrother and Mrs Captain Ojala. Cheese for Export. Large quantities of cheese from the factories in the Carterton district are being railed to Wellington from the Carterton, Clareville and Dalefield railway stations.
