EKETAHUNA

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Women’s Institute it was decided to obtain wool to knit three pullovers for men of the Merchant Navy. After the visitors had been welcomed a play entitled “Cross Purposes” was presented by members of the Drama Circle. Under the leadership of Miss M. Wilson, four Christmas carols were sung by the Glee Club. A feature of the gathering was a Christmas tree provided by the committee for Institute members, each one receiving a small gift from Father Christmas who was present. The monthly competitions were won as follows:—Flowers, Mrs Oliver 1, Mrs Fraser 2, Mrs Oliver and Mrs Albrechtsen (equal) 3. Date loaf, Mrs Baucke 1, Mrs Farrow 2, Mrs Hooper 3.
