INSTALLATION IN MASTERTON. Kerb-side bicycle racks are at present being erected in the business area of Masterton. It is intended to install about seventy. In the past, according to the borough authorities, there have been complaints in respect to the ( way bicycles are allowed to encumber the footpath and the roadway nearby, this state of affairs being brought about in many cases by the absence of verandah posts in some areas. It is not an uncommon occurrence for bicycles so parked to suffer damage from motor vehicles backing away from the kerb. At present borough workmen are fitting the racks outside the Post Office. It is intended to install the remainder at various points in Queen Street between the State and Regent Theatres.

Cyclists are asked to use the racks as much as possible, so as to avoid congestion in the street and as a protection to their machines.
