FARMERS’ UNION WOMEN'S DIVISION MEETING. L“Times-Age” Special.) The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held its last meeting for the year yesterday afternoon in the Parish Hall. Mrs Beu presided over a very large attendance of members. Members stood in silence for a few moments in sympathy with Mesdames Bayliss, Kidd and Lyford, who have suffered bereavement.

Benseman in her recent illness. Mrs Benseman has just come out of the hospital and is making a good recovery.

The hamper sent by Division members to the Anzac Hospital, Featherston, was much appreciated and a letter of thanks was received from the matron for the same.

The annual garden party is to be held at the Awapuni Rest Home in February. The sum of £2 2s Id was passed for payment for wool procured for knitting articles for men of the Merchant Navy. Mrs Wiggins read a pamphlet on how to help the British Sailor’s Society, which is undenominational. -A donation of £1 Is is to be sent from the Division and also a hamper on Friday week from the members. Goodsmay be left at the premises of Messrs Coleman and Everett. The following members were asked to take charge of a cake stall at the Garden Party to be held at Mr and Mrs A. Johnson’s garden to provide funds for Christmas cheer for Buchanan Home inmates: Mesdames R. Ingley, Judd, Beu, Wiggins, Maddison, A. Humphrey and Bunny. Mrs H. Kidd judged the cut flower competition, Mrs D. Fairbrother being first, Miss Eager second and Mrs F. Brooks third.

During the afternoon Mrs Beu received a beautiful weekend dressingcase and slippers from the members in appreciation of the work she had carried out for this particular branch of the Division. In expressing thanks for the gift, Mrs Beu said.that what she did for the branch was a labour of love as her whole heart was in the work. Mrs Beu was accorded musical honours.

After the meeting a short musical programme was given as follows: — Pianoforte duets, Mesdames H. Farley and H. Carter; songs, Mesdames Farley ancl Ingley; recitation. Mrs A. Johnson; pianoforte solo, Mrs H. Carter. A competition arranged by Miss Kidd was won by Mrs Linton, with Mrs Gow second. The hostesses were Mesdames' Vinsen, Nicholson, York and Brooks. Red Cross Society. Members of the Greytown Red Cross Society were instructed in drill last evening by Mr Whimp. It was decided to hold drill once a fortnight. The Red Cross Society members have been asked to conduct a sweets stall at the garden party to be held to raise funds for Christmas cheer for the inmates of Buchanan Home.

' Miss E .Gregor, on behalf of the members asked Mrs F. C. Bunny to accept a silver cake trowel in a case, in recognition of her help during the holding of the first aid and home nursing classes. In replying Mrs Bunny thanked the members for their kind thought and gift. She said that she loved nursing and felt it her duty to help others.
