OBITUARY

MRS HARRIETT BISHOP. The death occurred early .this morning of Mrs Harriett Bishop, a resident of Masterton for many years. She was a daughter of the late William and Annie Palmer and was born at Taieri, Otago 84 years ago. At Henley in 1875 she married Mr Stephen Alexander Bishop, who was one of the pioneer railway bridge builders of New Zealand. He died 40 years ago. She leaves a family of six sons and three daughters. The sons are Messrs Stephen and William (Auckland), James (Morrinsville), Alex (Rotorua), Sydney Arthur (Upper Hutt) and Alyford Lyll (Eastbourne). The daughters are Mesdames Thomson (Rotorua), Hayward (Hunterville) and Youngquest (Masterton). One daughter, Mrs Horn, died in Wellington seven years ago. There are 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning, leaving the Chapel of Hyde’s Funeral service following a service at 10.30 o’clock, for the Masterton cemetery.
